Reynaldo Rivera: Provisional Notes For a Disappeared City

Provisional Notes from a Disappeared City is a record of the now gone renegade LatinX scene and performers of the Los Angeles east side gay and transvestite bars Mugi's, The SIlverlake Lounge and La Plaza, in the 1980s and early 90s. These of black and white photographs capture the life, the magic, the backrooms, performers, their communities and audiences. The book includes nearly 200 photographs chosen by Heidi El Kholti and Lauren Mackler, an essay by Chris Kraus and an email conversation between the photographer and one of his friends and contemporaries, Vaginal Davis.
